Data visualization: an attractive tool to support statistical teaching in business schools
Over the last decades, data available for companies has kept growing. Information becomes easier to reach (open data for example) and is more and more present within companies and institutions. Companies collect wide amounts of data internally and are now able to make use of external data coming from websites, social networks, mailing campaign results, chatbots…
This increase of information leads us to review our statistical analysis methods, especially given the high value that can be generated by potential data cross-checking and a growing desire to predict future behavior.
In this context, the need to easily have clear, precise, easily understandable and visual data is born. Therefore, dataviz takes on a major stake today. It becomes a real management tool essential today and tomorrow in companies / institutions, especially within the commercial and marketing departments.
Faced with this increase of data and the need of dataviz, many editors have broken the traditional BI model by developing simple tools (notably in terms of connection and data cross-checking) and user-driven platforms.
Our presentation demonstrates how dataviz can be used to support statistical courses: raising awareness and increasing the appropriation of skills by the students.
